A Moment with the Pastor

Ecclesiastes 3:1–8 NKJV

1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:2 A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted;3 A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up;4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance;5 A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;6 A time to gain ,And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away;7 A time to tear ,And a time to sew ;A time to keep silence, And a time to speak;8 A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war ,And a time of peace.

Every one of us will walk through seasons. Some will be beautiful. Some will be difficult. Some will be seasons we would gladly live through again, while others may be seasons we are simply thankful God carried us through. And if we live long enough, many of those seasons will probably come around more than once. Ecclesiastes reminds us that to everything there is a season. There is a time to plant and a time to gather. A time to weep and a time to laugh. A time to break down and a time to build up.

So let me ask you a simple question:

What season are you in?

Right now, I believe God has my family and me in a season of transformation, leadership, building, surrender, and growth.

It is a season that includes something God placed on my heart that, not all that long ago, I could not have told you was coming: planting and, more specifically, pastoring ReConstruct Church.

This season He has called me to pastor, lead, mentor, love, serve, surrender, and abide. More than anything, it has reminded me that whatever God calls us to do has to remain grounded in His Word, His will, and His strength. My family and I entered this season expecting to see God work. We expected to serve faithfully. We expected to grow spiritually and personally. What we did not necessarily expect was exactly what the road would look like getting here. If I am being truthful, this season was not on our bingo card a year ago. Some parts of it were not even on the card a couple of months ago. Yet here we are. Much of 2026 has been about doing something new, something different, and something incredibly fulfilling for our family and our ministry. For almost eight months, we gathered for something we lovingly called “Basement Church.” It was simple. It was small.

There were no big stages or elaborate facilities. We simply gathered together, opened God's Word, worshiped, prayed, loved one another, and kept taking the next step God placed in front of us. Looking back, I realize we were planting seeds.

We were sowing hope for what God might do next. But there is something important I have learned in this season: we can plant, we can water, and we can labor faithfully, but God is the One who gives the increase. We may have plans. God has the purpose.

We may have ideas about where the road is going. God already knows where it leads.

Our responsibility is often much simpler than we make it: be willing, be faithful, and take the next right step. The further I walk into this season, the more I can look backward and recognize God's fingerprints. I can see people He placed in my life years ago. I can see conversations that stretched me. I can see burdens He placed on my heart. I can see ministry experiences that taught me lessons I did not realize I would need later. I can even look back at difficult seasons and recognize that God was teaching me things I would need for the calling He has placed before me today.

What once looked disconnected now begins to look like preparation.

God was working long before I understood what He was doing.

And maybe He is doing the same thing in your life.

What Season Are You In?

Maybe you are in a season of growth. Things are moving. Doors are opening. Your faith is growing, and you can almost feel God stretching you into something new.

Maybe you are in a season of planting. You are praying, serving, investing, loving, and working faithfully, but you have not seen the fruit yet. Keep planting. Maybe you are in a season of healing. Something has hurt you deeply. Maybe the wound is still tender, and God is patiently putting pieces back together that you once thought could never be whole again. Keep leaning into Him. Maybe you are in a season of weeping.

If so, please hear this: Scripture never tells us that faithful people never hurt. Ecclesiastes plainly tells us that there is a time to weep. Tears are not evidence that God has abandoned you. Sometimes they are simply evidence that you are walking through a difficult season while holding tightly to the One who has promised never to leave you. Maybe you are in a season of laughter and joy.

Enjoy it. Thank God for it. Do not become so worried about what may happen tomorrow that you fail to praise Him for the blessings He has given you today.

Maybe you are in a season of waiting. Those can sometimes be among the hardest seasons because it feels like nothing is happening. But do not mistake God's silence for God's absence. Roots often grow where nobody can see them. Preparation often happens long before the opportunity arrives. And sometimes God is doing His deepest work in us before He begins doing something new through us.

Seasons Change, but God Does Not

That may be one of the greatest comforts in all of this. Our seasons change, but God does not. Our circumstances change, but God does not. Our plans change, but God does not. The God who was faithful in your last season is already present in this one, and He will still be faithful in whatever comes next. For me, this season is one of building, surrender, leadership, and growth. My desire is simple: I want to faithfully abide in Christ, serve Him well, serve my family well, and love the church family God has entrusted to me well. I want to pour into individuals, families, hurting people, searching people, growing believers, and broken spirits with the perfect love and truth of Jesus Christ. I will not do everything perfectly, and none of us will. But I can remain faithful, teachable, surrendered, and keep taking the next right step. You can too.

Whatever season you find yourself in today, remember this: This season is not outside of God's sight. He sees you, knows where you are, knows what brought you here, and knows what He is preparing ahead of you. You may not understand the season yet, you may not particularly like it, and you may even be praying desperately for it to change. But while you are here, perhaps this is the prayer to pray: “Lord, what are You teaching me in this season? How are You growing me? How can I faithfully serve You right here?” Do not become so focused on reaching the next season that you miss what God wants to do in this one.

My prayer for you is that whatever season you are walking through, you will see the might, majesty, goodness, and faithfulness of God in your life. In the joyful seasons, praise Him. In the planting seasons, trust Him. In the waiting seasons, abide in Him. In the painful seasons, cling to Him. In the growing seasons, follow Him. And through every season, remember this: The season may change, but the One holding you never will. There is a time for everything, there is purpose even when we cannot yet see it, and there is a faithful God who is present through it all.

God's seasons. Our growth. His purpose.

So today, I leave you with the question I have been asking myself:

What season are you in?

And maybe an even more important question:

What is God wanting to do in you while you're here?
